I am a storyteller. As your photographer, I am telling the story of your wedding day through photographs. I not only want to capture beautiful portraits of you, but also natural moments; fixing your dress, walking through the grass, or a sweet moment with your mom.
To tell the authentic story of your day I want more than a million photos of you smiling and looking into the camera. I want to capture all the big moments AND what happens in-between the moments. I want to capture all of it.
CANDID STYLE PORTRAITURE
This consists of getting great imagery using light and composition while capturing those awesome, genuine moments and true emotions. I will tell you where to stand and where the pretty light is, and then I prefer to step back and let you make the magic by interacting naturally. For posing, I prefer to be as hands off as possible, but if you need a little extra direction I'm happy to jump in and help. This is really about striking a nice balance between photojournalism and creative portraiture.
Think you’re not photogenic, or uncomfortable in front of the camera? No problem! I take a LOT of photos and I edit out any that are unflattering. Part of my job is to make even the least-photogenic person look amazing! Plus, some of the most consistent feedback that I get from my camera shy clients is how comfortable I made them feel and how much fun they had. For real! It doesn’t have to be scary. We can make it eazy, breezy and even a little fun.

I bring an assistant on each shoot to help me move quickly and efficiently on your important day. Every package includes a photography planning session to provide you with a comfortable photography timeline and to give me a better idea of your style. All packages also include a flash drive of high-resolution images that you can print whenever you want, wherever you want. No hidden costs here. You get all the images.

Your photographer is with you for most of your wedding day which will likely be one of the most intimate and special days of your life. It’s a true reflection of you, your love for eachother and your relationships to your community. There’s a reason I make friends with most of my couples. I am sharing-in something rather sacred with you. It’s a cocktail for connection and friendship and I love that. It's also the best recipe for the most authentic and special photographs.
If you are shopping around for the cheapest photographer, you aren't going to find that here, but what you WILL find in me is an extremely hard worker who is passionate about what I do AND the people I do it for. I’m an artist to the core… always searching for beauty in light and compositions. I strive to figure out what you want and how I can use my art/ eye/ artistic abilities to give that to you. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?
I take a limited amount of events each year to ensure that I have enough time to edit and deliver the highest quality work I’m capable of. I also do this because it is important to me to maintain a good work/ life balance. This means that just because I’m available for your date, doesn’t automatically guarantee you can book me. A consultation meeting is an essential first step. I want to meet you and hear about your event and how I can be a part of it. It is important for your photographic vision to align with mine and for you to feel comfortable with me; this is what allows us to create magic together! After our meeting if we mutually want to work together you can book me by paying a $1000 retainer payment (which is applied to your package balance) and signing a contract.
WHEN DO WE GET OUR IMAGES?
I believe that editing and post processing is a huge part of the final image. Because of this, I do all of my own editing and don’t source it out. I meticulously cull, color correct, crop and adjust each image to deliver my very best work. Each event has different lighting situations and skin tones, so I create custom color adjustments every time. I also give you ALL of the good images. There are no hidden costs or upsales. The image count in my packages is just a minimum number (because I KNOW I will get at least that many images and likely quite a bit more.) For these reasons, I ask that you patiently wait the 30 to 90 days it takes for image delivery.
DO WE NEED A SECOND SHOOTER?
This really depends on the wedding. I feel very comfortable shooting solo, and I always bring along an assistant. However, I recommend a second shooter if your wedding will exceed 200 guests and/or the bride and groom don’t plan on seeing each other before the ceremony. I would be happy to hear the specifics of your wedding and help you decide if you will need one or not.
DO WE GET PRINTING RIGHTS AND HIGH RESOLUTION FILES?
Yes! You will receive every image both in high-resolution format (for printing) AND low resolution format (which is optimal for social media use). Along with a downloadable image gallery, files are delivered on a flash drive. This gives you a hard copy of your images, so you can print them wherever you want, whenever you want. All packages also include a print release.
DO YOU RETOUCH images?
I offer very basic retouching and try to keep this pretty minimal. I aim to keep things truthful and authentic. I’ll correct blemishes or minor background eye soars when needed, but won’t alter bodies.
DO YOU HAVE BACKUP GEAR?
Absolutely! I always arrive with two cameras, five lenses, three flashes and ample batteries and memory cards. For travel weddings I back up your images on my computer and two additional external hard drives; one of which I keep on my person at all times. I take being prepared and protecting your images very seriously. I have an entire “night before the wedding routine” in which I check, charge and clean gear, review timelines and mentally prepare with inspirational images and ideas.
WILL YOU TRAVEL FOR OUR WEDDING?
Yes! I love to travel and experience new places and landscapes. Travel up to two hours outside of Portland is included in my package prices. Beyond that, I create custom travel packages for each individual wedding. I would be happy to put a custom package together for you upon receiving your wedding details.
ENGAGEMENT PHOTO INFORMATION:
IS AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT NECESSARY?
Doing an engagement session is beneficial for several reasons. It allows you to get a little more comfortable in front of the camera, and it provides some time for us to get to know each other better. I'll learn more about you; your dynamic as a couple, and your best camera angles...which in turn will help me to get better photos at your wedding, and will help you to be more relaxed.
It also showcases your personalities in a more casual setting, creating great keepsakes down the road to remember this special time in your lives. Often people use these photos for save the dates, or a wedding sign-in book.
