EXPERIENCE

What’s it like to work with me? This will explain what to expect through the experience, and my photographic style and process from start to finish. It should give you a good idea of whether or not we’re a good fit.

01. LET'S MAKE A CONNECTION

CONSULTATION MEETING
A consultation meeting is an essential first step! I want to meet you and hear about your event and how I can be a part of it. It is important for your photographic vision to align with mine and for you to feel comfortable with me; this is what allows us to create magic together! I take a limited amount of events each year to ensure that I have enough time to edit and deliver the highest quality work I’m capable of. I also do this because it is important to me to maintain a good work/ life balance. This means that just because I’m available for your date, doesn’t automatically guarantee you can book me.

02. LET'S MAKE IT OFFICIAL

CONTRACT & RETAINER PAYMENT
After our meeting if we mutually want to work together you can book me by paying a $1000 retainer payment (which is applied to your package balance) and signing a contract. This can all be done through my booking system online. Your remaining payment is due 30 days before your wedding.

03. CREATING A PLAN

PLANNING SESSION
This part is SO important. This gives us a chance to sit down together and discuss all the details. I get all the details of your wedding day and more insight into your likes and dislikes so that I can cater what I do to uniquely suite you! I want to know things like; do you want a lot of detail shots or would you prefer I focus on people and candids? What family photos do you want? Which photos are the MOST important to you? I’ll send you a brief questionnaire to fill out before our meeting and we will go over everything together. We’ll also create a photography timeline for the day where we decide on what my start and end times are, and when we will be doing portraits, etc. It’s a great chance to get to know each other a little better as well, so that I can come in on your wedding day as a friend, not a stranger.

04. THE CELEBRATION

THE WEDDING DAY!
At this point we will be very prepared and ready for the day with a lovely photography timeline. I show up to weddings 30 minutes to an hour early to scout (this is extra time I provide that does not count as your booked hours) I look all around the venue and get ideas for where I would like to do portraits. It is ALWAYS extremely helpful for me and is a big part of the art and vision. For most of the day I like to be a fly on the wall as much as I can, but I also aim to be a friendly and helpful presence. I want to allow things to be as organic as possible without interfering with the natural progression of your special day. I may tell you where the best light is for getting ready, or suggest you sit in a certain place for toasts… but these will just be suggestions if you care to take them. It’s YOUR day. I want you to be as relaxed and present as possible, and let me do what I do by taking care of the photo details. When my time is almost up I’ll come let you know and make sure I’ve gotten everything you wanted before I go. Plus, we’re usually like best friends at this point so there is typically a bit of hugging and kind words exchanged.

05. FINALIZING THE MAGIC

EDITING / PHOTO DELIVERY
I believe that editing and post processing is a huge part of the final image. Because of this, I do all of my own editing and don’t source it out. I meticulously cull, color correct, crop and adjust each image to deliver my very best work. Each event has different lighting situations and skin tones, so I create custom color adjustments every time. I also give you ALL of the good images. There are no hidden costs or upsales. The image count in my packages is just a minimum number (because I KNOW I will get at least that many images and likely quite a bit more.) For these reasons, I ask that you patiently wait the 30 to 90 days it takes for image delivery. When your images are ready you will first receive an online image gallery where you can view, share and download them. Then you’ll receive a flash drive in the mail with both high-resolution format (for printing) AND low resolution format (which is optimal for social media use). This gives you a hard copy of your images, so you can print them wherever you want, whenever you want.
"Working with Terra was incredible! The shots she captured were gorgeous and beyond our expectations. She made sure to to really understand what we wanted out of the experience and delivered on that and more. Beyond that, she and her team were organized, highly responsive, and thoughtful. She brought us umbrellas when it rained, kept us laughing when we were becoming awkward or stiff, and generally added to the quality of the day. All in all an incredible experience!" -Anne

PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE

PHOTOJOURNALISM

I am a storyteller. As your photographer, I am telling the story of your wedding day through photographs. I not only want to capture beautiful portraits of you, but also natural moments; fixing your dress, walking through the grass, or a sweet moment with your mom.
To tell the authentic story of your day I want more than a million photos of you smiling and looking into the camera. I want to capture all the big moments AND what happens in-between the moments. I want to capture all of it.

CANDID STYLE PORTRAITURE

This consists of getting great imagery using light and composition while capturing those awesome, genuine moments and true emotions. I will tell you where to stand and where the pretty light is, and then I prefer to step back and let you make the magic by interacting naturally. For posing, I prefer to be as hands off as possible, but if you need a little extra direction I'm happy to jump in and help. This is really about striking a nice balance between photojournalism and creative portraiture.
Think you’re not photogenic, or uncomfortable in front of the camera? No problem! I take a LOT of photos and I edit out any that are unflattering. Part of my job is to make even the least-photogenic person look amazing! Plus, some of the most consistent feedback that I get from my camera shy clients is how comfortable I made them feel and how much fun they had. For real! It doesn’t have to be scary. We can make it eazy, breezy and even a little fun.

INVESTMENT:

I bring an assistant on each shoot to help me move quickly and efficiently on your important day. Every package includes a photography planning session to provide you with a comfortable photography timeline and to give me a better idea of your style. All packages also include a flash drive of high-resolution images that you can print whenever you want, wherever you want. No hidden costs here. You get all the images.

CONNECTION:

Your photographer is with you for most of your wedding day which will likely be one of the most intimate and special days of your life. It’s a true reflection of you, your love for eachother and your relationships to your community. There’s a reason I make friends with most of my couples. I am sharing-in something rather sacred with you. It’s a cocktail for connection and friendship and I love that. It's also the best recipe for the most authentic and special photographs.
If you are shopping around for the cheapest photographer, you aren't going to find that here, but what you WILL find in me is an extremely hard worker who is passionate about what I do AND the people I do it for. I’m an artist to the core… always searching for beauty in light and compositions. I strive to figure out what you want and how I can use my art/ eye/ artistic abilities to give that to you. Ultimately I want to create something that you’ll be delighted with and that you can cherish forever. THAT is where it gets really rewarding. THAT is when the true magic happens.
I would love to hear from you.
